On April 29th, the second annual All Rise America! Relay for Recovery will commence in Santa Maria, California, kicking off a month-long, cross country tour that will highlight National Drug Court Month.

The 3,500 mile road trip will make stops at 50 courts in 25 different communities with established Drug Courts, DWI Courts, or Veterans Treatment Courts in order to make a difference in their towns and in the lives of people working to recover from addiction. The tour will also highlight Juvenile Drug Courts, Family Drug Courts, and Tribal Healing to Wellness Courts throughout the country.

Spearheaded by the National Association of Drug Court Professionals (NADCP), officials will visit communities that are holding court graduation ceremonies and community events and feature inspiring stories of those whose lives have changed thanks to drug court.

According to the NADCP, the country’s 2,700 drug courts refer more people to treatment than any other system, and have put 136,000 seriously addicted people into treatment instead of jail.

“Now more than ever, lawmakers are looking for evidence-based solutions to the expensive and tragic problem of drug abuse and related crime,” said NADCP CEO West Huddleston. “All Rise America! will celebrate incredible communities that have come together to ensure that when addiction leads to arrest – be it a veteran, mother, grandparent, or teen – Drug Court, DWI Court, or Veterans Treatment Court is available to get people the treatment they need to reclaim their lives and once again be productive citizens.”

The All Rise ideal demonstrates how we all rise when drug treatment and accountability is offered to an addicted person who has been ill-served by the traditional court system.

The All Rise America! road trip will run through May in conjunction with National Drug Court Month. Be sure to check out the list of stops and see if your city or court is part of the tour!
