The patch collects insensible perspiration, the small amount of sweat the body releases through the skin.
Following drug use, the drug itself, its metabolites (substances produced as the body processes the drug), or both may be excreted through sweat. The patch collects these target analytes, the specific substances tested for by the laboratory, throughout the wear period.
After removal, a certified laboratory analyzes the sample to determine whether the target analytes retained by the patch were detected at or above established cutoffs.

The PharmChek® Sweat Patch helps programs monitor a participant’s drug use during a recommended wear period of 7 to 10 days. With an optional Overlay film, wear time may extend up to 14 days for some individuals.
