SCRAM CAM Programs Keeping Clients Sober on St. Paddy’s

With an estimated 13 million pints of Guinness drunk worldwide on St. Patrick’s Day and over 56% of Americans planning to celebrate this year, it is no surprise that this holiday has become the fourth most popular drinking day of the year—which also means it is one of the most dangerous days to be on the road. And, with St. Patrick’s Day falling on a Saturday this year, expect the celebration and traditions to extend through the weekend.

Luck Won’t Cut It—St. Patrick’s Day Drinking Resources

Bars and parties across the country will no doubt keep the green beer flowing throughout St. Paddy’s Day weekend, making for some very unlucky situations if party-goers decide to get behind the wheel after drinking. From 2012 – 2016, there were 269 deaths that resulted from drink driving crashes over the St. Patrick’s Day holiday—nearly 69% of these occurring during post-party hours.

To help raise awareness on the dangers of binge drinking and DUIs on this day of the Irish, we have updated our St. Patrick’s Day & Drinking Resource Center for 2018. This online resource center includes tips to help your clients enjoy a safe and sober weekend and shareable tools to help educate your community about the dangers of drunk driving.

SCRAM CAM Programs Making a Difference

Despite St. Paddy’s Day being one of the deadliest driving days of the year, SCRAM CAM programs across the country are helping high-risk DUI clients resist drinking during this very alcohol-focused holiday. In fact, 99.1% of clients monitored with SCRAM CAM will remain sober and compliant over the holiday weekend. Learn more about how 24/7 alcohol monitoring is encouraging sobriety, compliance, and accountability in drunk and impaired driving programs across the country.
