See <a href=\"http:\/\/kap.samhsa.gov\/products\/manuals\/advisory\/pdfs\/Advisory_Biomarkers_Revision.pdf\" target=\"_blank\"><em>The Role of Biomarkers in the Treatment of Alcohol Use Disorders, 2012 Revision.<\/em><\/a>\u00a0The original advisory, warning of the potential for false positives with biomarker testing, was issued in&#160;2006.<\/p>\n<p>According to SAMHSA, the advisory was issued in order to update professionals on increased scientific knowledge about alcohol biomarkers and to discuss their relevance for clinical, medical, and forensic purposes.
